Jazz is full of artists cursed, but Albert Ayler is one example in a pure state, living in the rejection, ostracism and sarcasm permament, it does nothing to abolish : violence sound amplified by the using reeds very hard and very physical game mobilizing the power of breath and mouth, vibrato hypertrophied, paroxysmal, inheritance from more trances of negro spirituals of origin and the singing of the blues shouters. No complacency in this speech, not surch for beauty, if not "convilsive ». The canonical structure of Jazz Performance is replaced by a sort of patchwork sound full of quotations, resolving itself into the trifle polyphonic fanfare, then burst into stridency diverse.
